The Commendation Award of the Foreign Minister of Japan has been presented to Mr. Akira HAYASHI, Executive Chef – Japanese Cuisine of Hotel Okura Macau. The award ceremony was held on June 18, 2019 at Macau’s Tap Seac Gallery during the Japanese Culture and Performing Arts Exhibition under sponsorship of the Macau Government Tourist Organization (MGTO).
The commemorative award has been given to Executive Chef Mr. Hayashi for his great contribution to bring authentic Japanese cuisine (WASHOKU) and food culture to Macau. Mr. Mitsuhiro Wada, Ambassador and Consul-General of Japan, remarked at the opening ceremony, Macau being a city of gastronomy, offer cuisines from all over the world. However, if you wish to try authentic Japanese cuisine, one of my highly recommended restaurants would be “Yamazato”, which Chef HAYASHI belongs to. There you will be able to taste traditional “WASHOKU” using seasonal ingredients from Japan.
In the same occasion, a Certification of Japanese Food and Ingredient Supporter Stores Overseas have been presented to Yamazato Japanese Fine Dining restaurant and Nagomi by
JETRO Hong Kong. Mr. Niek Hammer, General Manager of Hotel Okura Macau received an award on behalf of Yamazato and Nagomi team.
The Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) in 2016 established this certification to confirm that specific overseas restaurants and retail stores actively use food products or alcoholic beverages made in Japan. They are awarded the distinction of being “Japanese Food Supporters” as they work to promote the appeal of Japanese foods to a broad range of cultures. The certification promotes safe and delicious Japanese food products and alcoholic beverages in every corner of the world.
Hotel Okura Macau is very proud to receive this wonderful recognition from Japan’s Consulate-General in Hong Kong. The award demonstrates our commitment to continue the delivery of excellent Japanese hospitality: the Best Accommodation, the Best Cuisine and the Best Services.
Yamazato Japanese Fine Dining serves sushi, famous Kaiseki meals and the fresh seasonal seafood. Yamazato signifies a blend of the gracious Japanese tradition and modernity. Located on the 28th floor of the hotel, the restaurant offers breathtaking view of Galaxy gardens and Macau while indulging the best Japanese cuisine from Yamazato.
